Published in 2008
Genres: Romance, friendship
"If only life were as easy as your sisters." Abby's heard that one before. And it's true—Shelby and Kait aren't exactly prim and proper. Abby is determined not to follow in their footsteps, so she has created the One True Love Plan. The most important part of the plan is Rule #1: Find Someone New. This means finding a guy who hasn't already dated Shelby or Kait. But when Abby starts falling for the possible father of Kait's baby, she has to figure out if some rules are meant to be broken.

This book doesn't appear forthcoming in any way. It was nothing but a quick read to pass time before my next trip to the library, but yet, I loved it enough that I read it in a single sitting.
The blurb seems like it's just trying to confuse you, so here's a basic rundown. Abby, Shelby, and Kait are sisters. Their parents have been divorced - twice - and their stepfather is the father of Kait's baby and maybe even Shelby's daughter. Next door is Cody, Abby's best friend, and his older brother, Jackson, Abby's ex that slept with Kait before that.
Confused yet? Yeah, I was too, but this book teaches by repetition. The family relations are repeated enough times within the first quarter of the book to get it in your head.
Of course, if that wasn't enough drama, Cody is gay with homophobic parents and he's dating a girl to cover it up.
After reading some of the other reviews, not everyone held this book in such a light as I did, but I can assure you, it was amazing to read. The book does a great job of showing instead of telling, and the story it tells truly is mirroring a soap opera. It might be a bit unrealistic - but that's what made it so hilarious. It's not like the entire book is about the romance and family drama. The friendship seen with Cody - who has enough of a plot to deserve his own book - is one of my favorite parts of the book.
My biggest issue with the author was that she named so many of the characters similarly. There's a Shelby and a Stephanie and a Steve all living in the same house, but it got easy to read pretty soon.
This book exceeded my expectations my a considerable margin, and is a definite recommend.
