Summer 2017

Once again, we're almost at that wonderful time of year where the sun finally shows its face and the world glows with happiness. For many, this season means enjoying the great outdoors, but for me, it means reading.

I've loved my local library's summer reading program since I was 5. Every year, I managed to read enough to complete the goal of 1000 minutes fast enough that my mom started limiting me to only marking 20 minutes per day, in hoped that I wouldn't complete the challenge in a week.

As I aged, I fell out of the age range for the children's summer reading. While the library had a teen program, it was badly handled and easy to cheat on. But this year, I glow with joy, because they have finally developed a proper teen summer reading program.

The choices are to perform a certain amount of library activities or read 12 hours. I know I can do both easily, so I'm doing both.

On the blog's sidebar. I am going to leave a counter for how many minutes I've completed out of the required 720 minutes.

I challenge every one of you to join me and find out if your local library has a summer reading program you can participate in. And if they don't, there are other places you can participate such as Half Price Books. Scroll down and see the whole webpage, and you'll find something all ages.

So go ahead, and seize every moment of this summer, whether it be through reading or something else.
